I'm counting down to my vacation to Disney with my best friend and her kids. She has been saving and planning this vacation for nearly a year, though she had planned to take it with her husband.
Long story short, the cheating husband left her and his kids to move in with his girlfriend, who also left her husband.
Because it was already paid for, all I had to do was purchase my flight, and pay a small fee to transfer the tickets to the park out of his name and into mine. Plus, we have the dining plan, so all of my meals are included.
We fly out on Valentine's Day, and stay for 7 days- because my flight was purchased after theirs, I actually leave at 7am and will arrive in Orlando by 9:30am on Valentine's Day. She and the kids had planned for school that day, and won't be flying in until almost 10:30pm, so I have the first day to myself.
I am still trying to decide which park to go to solo. I've only been to Disney once, when I was 17 with a huge group of dancers. We got to take over the stage at Downtown Disney for a night as part of a huge program Disney used to run.
I remember really liking Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. HS is kind of small, though. I don't have the park hopper, so I can only go to 1 place that day, so I'm not doing HS.
MK is just about top on my list, except that we're actually planning to go there twice that week. That leaves Epcot (not huge into Animal Kingdom). I'm still debating between Epcot and MK, though. We only went to Epcot for about half a day when I went down before, and I wasn't impressed. But, we barely did anything- I didn't even know at the time that there was a World Showcase, which sounds like fun for me- lots of good food, and lots to drink. ;)
On our last day, my friends family flies out at 2pm, and I fly out at 8pm. My FIL lives about an hour away, so he's planning to come over early that day, and him and I will drive around Orlando to do some fun stuff before he takes me to the air port. It'll be nice to see him, as we only see him twice a year right now.
I'm excited- I can't wait to show Disney off to her kids, they've never been there before, and they could use some fun times. I have already spoiled them rotten, too- a new shirt for each of them, new Disney PJ's each, a gift basket of goodies that "Tink" is going to leave in the room for them, plus some DIsney books & coloring books for the plane ride down.
I'm also planning to do LOTS of photos of all of them, so that my friend can replace the empty frames in her home, now that her cheating husband isn't in any of them. ;)

I do want to plan another one for everyone. I figured out if I save $400 a month for a year, I'll have enough for the air fare, hotel, park tickets, and food.
My other (cheaper) thought is taking my oldest daughter for her 18th birthday, which will be in 2 years. Her and I could go for a birthday/graduation trip (our birthdays are 1 day apart), and do something similar with each of the kids for their graduation gift.
The temps will be quite a change from Michigan.
We are packing suits, though- the average high's may be around 74, but that doesn't mean there won't be an 80 degree day tucked in there ;)
