My family has been rooting for Tim Tebow since his college career at the University of Florida. (Go, Gators!) Now that he's moved on to the NFL, we've become Denver Broncos fans so we can continue to watch him perform on the football field. Not only is Tebow a talented athlete, but he isn't shy about sending a positive Christian message. It's great to be able to watch a game with my kids and cheer for someone who can truly be considered a role model.
In his memoir, Through My Eyes, Tebow tells his life as he sees it. He recounts how there were complications during his mother's pregnancy with him, and that against medical “advice” from a doctor, she refused to consider abortion as an option. Tim talks about his family's mission work in the Philippines, where his parents helped to start an orphanage. Today, he continues helping others through the Tim Tebow Foundation. Fans and detractors alike are well aware of his pro-life stance. In today's world, it takes courage to stand up for what you believe in.
Of course, there is plenty of talk about football here! From playing in the mud with his brothers outside their Florida home, or getting his start in Pop Warner games as he grew up, Tebow has had a passion for playing the game all of his life. He's known as a good sportsman who wants to get that win, all the while playing by the rules and avoiding dirty tricks on the field.
I truly enjoyed reading what Tim Tebow had to say. The media certainly has had plenty to say about him over the years, so it's nice to hear things straight from the source. This book was just published in 2011 through HarperCollins Publishers, and covers his life until just after Tebow's first season with the Denver Broncos. I'm sure there are great things ahead for him, both on the field and off. Suggested retail price for the hardcover edition is $26.99. I borrowed a copy from the library, but there was a considerable waiting list! Apparently, plenty of others are eager to hear his positive messages about his love for the Lord, and his excitement about the game of football. ISBN 978-0-06-200728-5.
