Kim Kardashian is giving away some of her fortune to charity. The reality TV star opened up her heart (and wallet) to the tune of $50,000 to help aid gay suicide prevention, a problem that has plagued the country's youth.
Kardashian recently hosted a charity event with the company Cantor Fitzgerald, who gives away money each year on 9/11 to honor the employees they lost in the terrorist attacks, and chose to give her cash to The Trevor Project, a well-known organization for gay youth.
Kim Kardashian's pledge of $50,000 makes her one of the biggest celebrity donators to The Trevor Project, joining the ranks of Jodi Foster and Danielle Radcliffe, who have also given substantial amounts of money to the charity.
It's great that Kim has found a charity that she's passionate about. In the past five years, the United States has lost so many young people to suicide, and gay and lesbian teens are making big headlines for taking their lives.
It is so sad that in the year 2012, people still feel discriminated against. Hopefully, The Trevor Project and many other charities can help these young people before it's too late. Way to step up, Kim Kardashian!
