Elijah's Coming: Into The Valley Of Hinnom...

This is my second "Rondel Prime" written for "Mindful Poetry" (January's poetry form). I have attempted to enter into the mind of Elijah as he steps forth onto the Biblical scene. This is conjecture, we do not know what prompted Elijah to finally get fed up enough to get involved. But he may have listened to them offering their little infants into the flames to Moloch...beating drums to cover the infant screams. Day after day, on and on!

Susan Budig...this more concentrated study of poetry I have embarked on this new year has proven most interesting. And I believe Charles d'Orleans was the perfect place to start. It seems that learning and defining "Poetry" is partly a matter of perspective. Charles wrote in two languages. English and French. French being a more "syllabic verse". English more "accentual" verse? Like anything else I do...this will be quite thorough as an adventure. Thank you for your structured "Mindful Poetry" site.

And please forgive my more serious subject matter...my wife says it is a "Dark" phase of my writing. But really, it is but a means to my study.

Great writing. Nice metaphor; the drumming no longer hides the screams of the children being sacrificed in the flames at the valley of Hinnom.

This is a very good protest poem.

Thank you. Rondel Prime as a poetry form (for some reason) is provoking a bit of activity on my part. Here I sit at my desk in the middle of some sort of crash course in the principles of poetry. lol.
