Brandy doesn't understand why so many music fans become fiercely loyal to one musician—why can't they like Beyonce, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga instead of having to pick one to worship?
So many music fans these days want to proclaim that their favorite artist is better than all the rest instead of simply finding songs they enjoy from a wide variety of musicians. Fans accuse artists of copying one another music-wise and fashion-wise, and they'll get in Twitter feuds and Fac
ebook fights to defend the honor of their favorite. But what's the point? Shouldn't people want more diversity when it comes to music?
That's what Brandy doesn't understand. She does know a little bit about fans and their love of feuds, however—back in the day there were tons of rumors about her and her "The Boy is Mine" collaborator Monica fighting with one another. But even though she knows how these things go, here's what she said about competition between the divas of the music world: "If you like Beyonce and Lady Gaga and Rihanna and not put them against each other, then you can enjoy all three....nobody can be Beyonce better than Beyonce. Let people be unique and y'all fans stop putting us against each other. It's not even right. Especially when the artists you put against each other actually like each other. You know what I'm saying? That's kinda... that's cray." (Via Digital Spy)
She makes a good point—after all, Lady Gaga and Bey worked together on the songs "Telephone" and "Video Phone;" Gaga and Rihanna did the song "Ready" together; and RiRi was rumored to turn to Bey for help after a recent near-meltdown. So obviously there's room in the musical world for all these ladies, and there's no reason for their fans to fight (now the Chris Brown vs. Rihanna fans are a whole different story).
So do you agree with Brandy? Do you pick and choose a few different songs from a bunch of different artists, or do you have one that you prefer above the rest? Sound off in the comments!
