Yesterday the internet went on strike in protest of SOPA and PIPA. Some sites blacked out completely, displaying messages about SOPA and PIPA instead of their usual content.....

....while other sites stayed active, but displayed prominent messages about censorship linking to pages with more information.

Twitter and Facebook didn't participate in the blackout, but their users did by not posting all day and changing their profile pictures.
The protest was a huge success, with several legislators who had previously stated their support of SOPA and/or PIPA (one of which helped write the former) coming out against them.
This is a victory for a free and open internet, but we haven't won yet. SOPA and PIPA are still a threat, and if they're voted down I have no doubt that it's only a matter of time before someone in power comes up with a 'better' bill that's pretty much identical.
The internet is ours, it belongs to the people. Never give up the fight.
