When is it time to go to the doctor?

I am so sick. I can't breathe and I feel like my head is stuck in a pillow. I am coughing and I have the chills. Yuck! I just am not running a fever, but I do believe I am sick. My problem is that I'm sure the doctor will want me to go on an antibiotic, but I am allergic to so many antibiotics, I don't want to go on one.

When do you go to the doctor?

As rarely as I can. I have only gone when I got a hernia... and it was operated on... since 2009. I did go to the ER once. But outside of those 2 incidents... I don't go. I used to be on a lot of medication and I went to many different doctors all the time, but since my healing in 2009, and I stopped all the medications... I've not needed to go. When the surgeon discharged me from the hospital, although I told him the story of my healing, he said I don't know what you are doing, but keep it up... and he only gave me pain meds.

If you are having chills you must have a really low grade fever that can't be detected. I'd say it was time to go. I'll pray for you too.

I have to be in severe pain or very sick to go to the doctor

I had the same thing and if it really is the same its lasting more than 10 days . the people in my family that have the luxury of going to see the doctor came away with nothing but a palliative antibiotic which they give you to justify the cost of the office visit an antibiotic is not going to cure a cold or flu . the very best thing that helped me was the zycam and cold ease this helped me a lot

When it's necessary which can vary from person to person and from time to time. If you don't want meds why bother?

I don't go to the doctor until on I'm on death's door, but if it doesn't improve about about 4-5 days, I would consider going.

Carol, I go to the doctor when I know I can not get rid of what I have then and only then....

It depends on the person. I would take home remedies for a while and see if it does the trick. If you don't feel better after a couple of days, go to the doctor right away.
