I took 1290 steps on Sunday toward my first 10,000 steps.
I love my new pedometer. It arrived on Saturday and so even though I knew I wouldn't be doing a lot of walking this Sunday, I clipped it on for the first time - after entering the serial number on line to start earning points towards gift cards.
It's a great extra incentive toward one of my fitness goals this year, to walk 10,000 steps a day.
Although I have absolutely no idea how many miles that might be or if that is really is a reachable goal for me. All I know is that it can be done - the question now is - can I do it?
Of course I love a challenge - and so I will keep track - here on gather. You can laugh at me if you like, I sure had to when I realized I only took a little over 1000 steps on Sunday.
Besides, I foolishly thought my average day is probably 5000 steps a day - we'll see about that. Guess I have to up my game just a little bit:)
I plan to take a lunch break every day and walk in any of the nature parks near me. That will give me an idea as to how much walking is involved, most parks around here have a one and three mile trail. Makes me wonder why they don't have a two mile trail:)
I also signed up for a photo walk at Eagle Lake Park on Thursday Morning which will be a nice change from my usual haunts and hopefully produce a few nice nature shots to share with you.
A SHOUT OUT to all my gather friends.
If you have a pedometer, regardless if it's an ordinary one or if you just ordered one for the rewards like me,
let's keep a weekly tally - just comment with your up to date number of steps before Monday morning and I'll include you in the weekly tally posted every Monday.
Join in the fun - let's walk together, no more excuses about not having a walking buddy:)
Mine is lime green, but I didn't have time to take a pic - maybe tomorrow.

In a little while I'm off for my first trail walk - I'll report back to you tomorrow:)
So come on - let's devise a gather walker group or something to keep us all motivated:)

I can walk, just a short distance and slowly until it's normal.
It's been in the seventies during the day here - perfect walking weather.
A pedometer can be a great incentive.

Never mind you said 500 calories less a day. I don't count calories, but I promised myself to cut out sweets in the evening. Don't know when I started that bad habit, but I know I have to work on it.
