Zooey Deschanel does the dork role well. She proved that in the film 500 Days of Summer in the title role and she has proven that again in New Girl, a hilarious new sitcom for which she has been nominated for a Golden Globe.
That said, the actress who plays Jes on the small screen embraces her "inner dork" and says the trait "is a wonderful thing to have."
In fact, Zooey commented that she and her character Jes have a lot in common. She told one source, "There's definitely a lot of Jes that's similar to me. I was so much like her when I was 13. I wasn't the coolest kid in my class."
And then she added, "...on behalf of dorky school kids all around, I like to represent that. But I don't know whether I'd describe myself as particularly adorable."
While Zooey Deschanel may not call herself as "adorable," loads of fans do. In fact, this likeable thespian, who is sadly going through a divorce these days but who is happily doing the award show thing while being the one to bet on according to some pundits, is sure to shine her way through a very successful career as the dork everyone loves to love.
