Buffalo added several players to their roster this past NHL off-season, and the team was expected to challenge for a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs, but the Sabres have had trouble finding the net this year and are now in eleventh place and in danger of missing the post-season.
Buffalo needs to add some scoring, and the latest trade rumor from Bleacher Report has the team looking at Ales Hemsky from Edmonton. The 28-year-old right-winger is averaging nearly one point per game played in his career, but the Oilers are struggling and could look to make a deal for some younger talent.
Buffalo has a number of young defensemen they could use in a deal, but it would likely take at least two players and possibly draft choices for this deal to take place. The Sabres invested a lot of money on the team this year, and missing the NHL playoffs could set this franchise back a few years, so the front office needs to take a pro-active stance and make a mid-season move to strengthen the teams offense and give the fans something to cheer about in the second-half of the season.
