Bones will be airing one more episode this week before going on hiatus until the spring, but there is a plan to air more than the original 13. There are four more episodes ordered, and it's still unsure when they'll air. How is it looking for a season 8?

According to TVLine, Fox's Kevin Reilly did say, "We ordered as many as they could produce with Emily [Deschanel, whose maternity leave dictated the split season].... If they can produce 22 when she comes back, that's what we'll make. [T]hey may end up making 22." Right now, the schedule calls for the sixth to air on January 12, with seven more to air in the spring after The Finder airs. There are four more that could be part of season 7 and air in the summer or be moved to be part of an eighth season.
Speaking of season 8, Hart Hanson is "very confident" that Fox will renew Bones for another year: "Putting [Brennan and Booth] together and having a child reinvigorated our series. We still have very good stories [to tell]." Going into season 7, some fans were worried about what having a baby and Brennan and Booth in a relationship would mean for the show, but they've shown that they haven't lost what makes it so good. Having a baby around is just going to mean more storylines to address while they solve cases, much like Angela and Hodgins with their baby. Will Booth and Brennan also be facing loss of sleep like the other couple has? Could there be a wedding in the future during the eighth season?
Spoilers have already revealed that Brennan will be going back to work after giving birth though things aren't going to be very physical between her and Booth because of her post-giving birth figure. So season 7 will give viewers a chance to see what the couple is like right after bringing their baby home, but an eighth season could offer the chance to see what they're like when they've been parents together for longer. That would be fun to see, and the show is still just as good as ever in terms of cases, so hopefully Fox renews Bones for another year.
