Kate Gosselin says that 2011 was for her "a year of gaining complete independence," so that's what she's celebrating as she goes forth into 2012. Even though not everything that took place in 2011 was positive for the former reality TV star, and she didn't ask to become quite as independent as she is right now--she is still counting the positives and trying to--well, trying to not be bitter about the negatives.
According to a report from E! Online, Kate saw the cancellation of Kate Plus Eight and she learned that even former reality TV stars have to obey traffic laws. (She was stopped and ticketed for speedi
ng in Pennsylvania.) She got a new job (even though it's part-time and pretty cushy) and she ran her very first full marathon.
And while all of these things do in fact indicate that Kate has gained some more independence, should she really be calling 2011 a year of independence? Doesn't she still have a bodyguard? How about a nanny or nannies? Kate Gosselin still doesn't run the whole shebang when it comes to those eight children, and she really should stop pretending that she does.
"The year of 2011 for me was a year of gaining complete independence, and learning to look for solutions in every situation instead of focusing on the problems...I've always said that I don't live apologetically; I live passionately! A great way to do that is to learn from the past and make it better in the future," Kate Gosselin says.
What do you think? Are you buying the 'independent' thing or is there still a bit more to the story?

True, I've never heard her apologize for anything. Why doesn't she just shut up?
