Poor Robert Pattinson and Kisten Stewart. Rumor has it that Breaking Dawn Part One will be nominated for more Golden Raspberry Awards than any other movie this year. And one of those nominations is sure to be for Worst Film of 2011. The question is: Will it win? According to sources, it has a darn good chance.
Yes, just as the Oscars honor and celebrate "the film industry's best and brightest," similarly the Golden Raspberry Awards or Razzies exist to diss and denigrate the worst films, actors, and directors each year. Reportedly, Breaking Dawn Part One will be "heavily nominated." So much so, people say it's almost sure to win Worst Film of 2011. But wait. Breaking Dawn Part One stars 2 of the most popular young stars on the screen today--Robert Pattinson, and his beautiful girlfriend, Kristen Stewart. How is it possible that with such a high-profile and popular couple playing the leads plus gargantuan box office profits, Breaking Dawn can still be such a critical...well...flop?
Who knows? The bottom line is that it can, and in spite of Robsten's glamorous presence, the film may actually be proclaimed the worst of the year. Ouch.
So the new question is: Will Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart show up to accept their awards for Worst Actor and Actress? (Hey, they're bound to be nominated as well.) Or will they hide out at home in shame? Only time will tell.
In the meantime, Hollywood Life has conducted one of its famous polls. The single poll question was: Do you think The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn was the worst movie of 2011. Mercifully, only 4.34 percent voted yes. A huge 95.66 percent majority answered: "No. There were many worse movies." Hmm. Not exactly glowing praise, but it's better than a Razzie award.
What do you think?
