Deadly flu virus made airborne in a lab!

Sammy Greene blogged today about the New York Times report of a Dutch virologist manipulating the genes of the deadly bird flu to make it airborne in the lab. The article, which is linked in the blog, gives arguments pro and con for this kind of research. This isn't fiction anymore. Thoughts?

When you play with fire, you're going to get burned. I cannot see any useful purpose in doing something so dangerous.

I agree, but obviously even our own government has been supporting this kind of research for decades (both Parties)

AH-CHOO!! OK they prooved their point. now quick destroy the virus and all evidence of the whole project. I know, fat chance. Is there nothing these people won't try?
