I'm glad the Republicans were holding out about the payroll tax reduction extension. If it's important, then two months is ridiculous. They wanted it to be for a year. Democrats only wanted the two months so that they can make bogus claims two months from now about how Republicans hate middle class Americans again.
Â
I'd like to think that what Republicans were really fighting about was how those payroll tax reductions are going to paid by some other increase. Oh, you didn't realize that Congress was going to try to balance that loss of revenue with an increase somewhere else? Blame the media for that one. And I'm disappointed in the "compromise" Republicans made. It's no wonder our TEA party candidates were fighting this. It's why we sent them to Washington.
Â
Anyway, without further ado, here's what the media didn't tell you:
Â
The two-month package is set to be paid for with fees charged by mortgage financiers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over 10 years.
Â
As an article from American Vision reports:
Â
In other words, Republicans have “caved†by agreeing to increase mortgage fees for 10 years in order to fund a mere two months worth of tiny tax cuts. Instead of taxes being raised January 1, they go up March 1 instead, while the higher mortgage fees endure for a decade. Brilliant. And to score this great political achievement, the House speaker is willing to use Pelosi- and Reid-style procedural tricks to exclude the toughest opposition from the vote. Epic.
Â
And this is why the move is indeed a major political victory for the radical Left: because the Republicans are acting just like them.
Â
For the rest of the story: The “horrific†details behind Republicans’ caving
Â
How many Americans do you know who would have agreed to tiny tax reductions for two months in exchange for higher mortgage payments for ten years?
Â
When will people realize that #1 the liberal media isn't telling you everything and #2 the Republicans really do have more of our best interests in mind than the Democrats, especially the TEA party candidates who care about the Constitution and all Americans?
Â
I wish they had not caved. More importantly, I wish they would talk about what it is they're being asked to do. If we had known, we would have all fought this.

Have you given that any thought, Marilyn?
Mark-John, I hate to think that some are right and that our government was taken over years ago and what we see is just a show. But more and more, it seems the conspiracy theorists have been right.
Marilyn, they have theirs...it's no longer about one group in D.C. representing some, and another group in D.C. representing the other. It is about Elites vs. the rest of us, and about Leftists who want to destroy what we were, in order to maintain what the Elites have...complete control.
What side are you talking about now?
In this case it was Mitch McConnell that talked Boehner into giving in.
Fire them all!
GOOOH
It was Senate Republicans (and even the Conservative Wall Street Journal) telling House Republicans to knock it off, that got them to listen.
...we're being had, Marilyn. And it should make you damned angry.
That's what the Senate GOP insisted on so their sacred rich aren't singled out.
When did people become so selfish that they're even willing to sell their own kids and grandkids for their own slim comfort today?
Eamon, you have a good point about the pipe line. I doubt BO will offend the unions.
There aren't too many left anymore. That's why we're becoming so "3rd world" in America. People are now working harder for less and the money just goes up to the very top and stays there (it does trickle down).
That's your opinion.
>they are politicing and are either Socialistic or Communistic in their phylosophy
No, not at all. They don't want the government to take over the businesses. They just want fair pay and safe working conditions.
They don't want the government to take over the businesses? Yep sure, tell the SEIU that one. When was the last time a union backed a Republican candidate? Not only do they push for government ownership of business they want to BE the government.
"Congress now has two months to work out their differences over a longer-term payroll tax cut extension -- namely, differences over how to pay for it.
"We can pay for it in many different ways," Reid said. "We have to be somewhat inventive."
Reid announced the four Democratic senators he is appointing to a conference to negotiate the terms of the longer-term bill with the House: Sens. Ben Cardin on Maryland, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, Max Baucus of Montana and Jack Reed of Rhode Island."
(from the news)
Why do you suppose the plan they've forced down our throats isn't good enough for them?
Because that's what they all say they're going to do. The GOP and Dems, both. If you don't believe any of that then you are just off in some conspiracy theory universe of your own.
The Conservatives in Congress prevented that part from ever happening.
Marilyn, would you care to answer my question?
