What did Wizards of Waverly Place teach Selena Gomez? She played the role of Alex Russo on the hit Disney Channel show for about four years. Surely she learned something, right? As a matter of fact, Selena did learn a thing or two while starring on the show. She shared what she learned in a recent interview.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, Selena told fans at a press conference for the upcoming final episode of Wizards of Waverly Place that the show taught her to open up more.
"I'm very to myself, and kind of weird sometimes. I feel like the show has definitely opened me up more — to have fun, to read the lines but enjoy it your way. So if anything, just to loosen up more," she explains.
It's kind of hard to imagine Selena Gomez being reserved. The young woman who belts out songs on the concert stage, and travels the world with her boyfriend Justin Bieber really doesn't seem all that reserved, does she? If that's what she learned from being an actor on Wizards of Waverly Place, then fans everywhere owe the show a giant thank you. Selena coming out of her shell opened a whole new world of opportunities for her, and in doing so afforded her fans many more opportunities to see her in action.
Selena Gomez and her cast mates from Wizards of Waverly Place are anticipating the final episode of the show that will be aired on January 6th. And while the end is always bittersweet, it certainly provided lots of new experiences for all of them--most of which they'll never forget.
