Can you imagine getting pranked by Betty White? That's kind of the premise behind a new hidden camera show coming to NBC. It's called Betty White's Off Their Rockers and it comes just in time for the comedian's 90th birthday.
On January 16, NBC will celebrate Betty's birthday with a star-studded event that promises to be as irreverent and energetic as the star herself. Betty got her first big break in TV in the fifties, but she became famous when she starred as the Happy Housewife, Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Betty White created quite a stir with her character, an older woman with an insatiable sex drive. And though she was quite nasty on camera, audiences still grew to love both her and her character.
In the 80's, Betty did it again when she became Rose of The Golden Girls. Audiences loved her and couldn't get enough. She continued to work consistently through the 90's and into 2000, it was a stint on Saturday Night Live that launched her career with a new, younger audience.
It happened when someone started a Facebook page called "Betty White to Host SNL". The page became so popular, that SNL booked her and she became the oldest host at age 88. The roll earned her a seventh Emmy and revitalized her career.
Now, Betty is getting her own prank show, which will premiere after her 90th birthday special. The hidden camera show will feature senior citizens pulling pranks on younger people.
Says Betty, "People have been telling me that I'm "Off My Rockers" for years. Now I can prove it!"
