Cottage cheese bread recipe (bread machine)

This bread turned out excellent! It's SO easy made in the bread machine.

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 T butter or oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1/4 t baking soda
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 t active dry yeast
  1. Add the ingredients to the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer; push start for the white bread cycle.
  2. Makes one 1 1/2 pound loaf.

Interesting, first time I've heard of using that for bread. Maybe it's time to break out the machine again...

oh I have a question about bread machines.. Mine seams to be sorta suckie what brand do you use the loves turn out really nice.

Yum. I gave my machine away - it wouldn't do gluten free. Or, maybe it was just me remembering that I hate to cook.

You forgot the dill! This is a recipe from the 70's or 80's and I loved it, though I don't have a bread machine. But a generous teaspoon of dried dill or 1 T. fresh, minced, really enhances the bread.....

Ooh! That sounds interesting. I don't have a bread machine anymore, but just bought yeast and stuff to have a bread-making day with my son. The kneading is quite therapeutic.

I can always use some.... You have to "punch down" the bread dough after the first rise - it's the best part :)

Yum! I wish I had a bread machine....although, if I had one, I'm not sure where I'd put it. I'm starting to run out of room for kitchen appliances!
