Even though The Notebook has already been out in the movies for years, fans of it still love it. And now they'll have another version of it to enjoy besides the film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams and the book by Nicholas Sparks.
Relive the romance, laughter, and tears
According to Zap2it, Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley James Scott on One Tree Hill) and Ron Aniello, her writing partner, have worked on the musical and "staged a reading in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2009." Nicholas Sparks himself even seems to have endorsed it, so hopefully it ends up being good. There were differences between The Notebook in book and movie, and it wouldn't be surprising to see other differences when the story hits Broadway. But how will it do as a musical? Will fans of the story love it or find some faults in it? How will the main cast do portraying Noah and Allie and their love? Will the moments that everyone remembers from the movie, including the kiss in the rain, be part of the musical, or will some end up being cut?
This does sound like a perfect opportunity to bring lots of women to the theater to see what the latest version of the story looks like. Will it do well on Broadway, or will theatergoers just wish they had stuck to the movie and book versions? As long as there are still sweet moments, it should be something the target audience enjoys.
