This is interesting! Ron Paul suddenly surges to second place in the Iowa polls just ahead of the Repulican debate. I think conservatives are not happy with the choices that Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney offer.
Republicans need a strong conservative, which is definately Ron Paul, and they are looking for the strongest candidate that is a polar opposite to Barack Obama.
I need to look more seriously at Ron Paul. He may just be the man to take the reigns in this Republican race. What concerns me is that the Republicans including me keep changing leaders.
Newt Gingrich is my choice for economic leadership, but his morals because of his adultery play an important part. Ross Perot made a good point: if you can't be loyal to your wife, can we trust you with the presidency, but Perot was too outside the mark. What about Ron Paul?

It's interesting when the old media finally has no choice but to include him, hear him, report on him, how his word, honor, and integrity shine through. If you haven't followed him, or his ideas, sometimes when he says things it is over most people's level of understanding and intelligence. Do your research as he has NEVER flipped-flopped on freedom!
It seems he has a bit more integrity than all the other candidates.
He don't just talk the talk, he walks the walk. Maybe people are finally waking up and realizing if they vote newt, romney or perry that nothing will change.
They all bow to special interests, and change their tunes to whatever people want to hear at the time, but Ron Paul has stated where he stands, and he sticks by his conviction, whether people like it or not.
Read the "Bell Curve" and see why we need a Libertarian!
Recently the question of Ron Paul running on a third party ticket (including Libertarian) was asked and Ron Paul said he has no desire or interest in that. He said he would not run on any ticket except as a Republican.
I'm a Republican, have been a Libertarian and I want and need a Conservative to lead this Country our of the malaise of Liberalism! Ron is great, but! Newt is very capable and Romney is questionable!
Barry would lose to any of these three today!
Thanks for the comment!
After three and a half years, the "blush" is off the peach and Americans blame Barry now, not Bush for the mess we are in!!
I definitely understand the concern about his message being considered radical, which could also be used against other candidates, including Newt (e.g. abolishing courts). In Paul's case, I think the message can be made palatable to enough voters to beat Obama, the few Republicans who would stay home would be more than compensated for by the fact that he brings in a lot of voters who normally won't vote Republican (or vote at all).
I will say this, though, Rand Paul is much more electable and I expect him to be President down the road. There's a few things about Ron that will make it harder for him to win, but if he can perform well in the two early states I don't think there is much to worry about.
I think you should revue the national polls. A blip in Iowa, NH, isn't going to change VERY low numbers nationally. As soon as the elections begin, it will be virtually impossible to improve his position fast enough to change the result in his favor. His own camp has said an extended fight will be difficult, if not impossible. Anyway, sorry I have so many reason's I had to rebut again. forgive me, please. :-)
If Paul doesn't do very well in both Iowa and New Hampshire, I see almost no chance for him to win. He polls well there because he has focused the bulk of his effort on those states. Whoever wins a early caucus or primary will get a tremendous boost. Paul has to place 1st in one of the states to win, IMO. So a blip there matters quit a bit, that's where you build momentum. And since a lot of people think he can't win he needs to dispel that notion early to have any chance.
If Mitt wins both I expect he becomes unstoppable. If Newt wins one and Mitt the other, get ready for a long battle. If Newt wins both I don't know what happens, but he would be very hard to beat.
When I look at the rest of the states, where he is barely polling at all, it sure looks like an uphill battle.
Exactly, but momentum from winning one or two early states solves that problem. Remember how quickly Newt climbed in the polls just weeks ago? Candidates have been going up and down real fast this season.
Um, where did that come from?
I do find it funny that anything can be made up about Obama and its considered OK but let one person say something they probably got from the same blog that make up chit about Obama and people are at arms to call the lawyers.
Guess what saying this kind of stuff about a public figure especially Newt who has such a questionable past isnt slander or defamation...courts generally rule for the person for many reasons.
