Havre de Grace, Maryland Man Wins $1,000,000
Jose Antonetti, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, was feeling pretty darned good about his early Christmas present when he claimed his huge lottery check yesterday at Maryland Lottery headquarters. On his way to take a Sunday nap, the 79-year-old man paused to print off last Saturday's Powerball winning numbers first. Jose handed them to his wife and proceeded to bed.
His wife got all excited saying he won $200,000, but Jose knew better. You see, Antonetti spent an extra dollar on the Power Play option. He knew the lottery ticket was worth a lot more than that, so he had his daughter check the ticket a second time. That's when the Antonetti family realized Jose was a millionaire! What an awesome Christmas they're going to have!
According to Maryland Lottery officials, Antonetti matched five out of six Powerball winning numbers (4, 19, 33, 41, 59), but not the Powerball number (9) for the Saturday, December 10th drawing. The lucky lottery winner purchased his Power Play ticket at Post Road Liquors, 1123 Revolution Street, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. The store will also receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. It's a win-win for everyone!
