How I Met Your Mother is going to be introducing a new love interest for Barney soon, and there are now some details out about her. There is also some news about Barney and the secret Robin has been keeping (that she can't have children).

TVLine has some character details about Becki Newton's character from executive producer Carter Bays: "We've always toyed with introducing the world to the female Barney. And that might be too simple a way to describe her, but she's not going to take any s-t from Barney. This girl is going to kind of beat up on him a little bit. It will be an even match." It sounds like she's going to be what Barney needs now, considering he had been hoping that after breaking up with Nora, he'd be with Robin, only for her to turn him down. Then he thought he was going to be a father, only to lose that too. It's been a sad time for Barney recently, and maybe Newton's character will bring some joy to Barney's life.
Also coming up on How I Met Your Mother is Barney finding out what Robin's keeping secret from the others—that she is unable to have children even if the time comes that she wants them. Bays has said this "will be key to what happens in the remaining 12 episodes of the season. It's an important pivot point for the season." Robin had a really good reason for not telling anyone—she knew how they'd react—but there's only so long she can deal with this news before she does tell someone, and it's going to be a big factor in the rest of the season, which makes sense since it's all leading up to some pretty big moments in these characters' lives as the series continues. Barney wants to have children; could this news be a deal-breaker for them getting back together one day? The show has yet to reveal who is going to be Barney's future bride; could Robin's secret somehow play a role in that?
