No one ever wants to admit that a marriage is about anything other than love. Sadly, right behind love on the list is money, and NBA star Kris Humphries believes that's the reason Kim Kardashian lured him to her in the first place.
Humphries sits on reported "thin" list of NBA free agents
Automatic thoughts from fans believe professional basketball players all make too much money. In reality some of the lesser players, the role players who aid the superstars, jump from team to team on modest contracts while still facing all the injury possibilities the stars must face. That's why so many players were willing to play overseas during the lockout. Teams from other countries play in leagues too and a chance to get a professional from a hotbed of talent like the U.S. is a tremendous business opportunity. Kris Humphries is under no illusions about his financial situation. After spending so much on an engagement ring, the wedding and a honeymoon his pockets have almost run dry. Now he stands among an NBA free agent class deemed "thin" by most experts. This means teams aren't over-anxious to throw a big contract at him because they know he'll have little leverage in terms of joining forces with another player like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade did last season.
Annulment to Kim Kardashian says less about fraud and more about finances
Perhaps the biggest reason Kris Humphries is seeking an annulment instead of a divorce rests on his money problems. Common divorce law states that without a prenuptial agreement the marital assets are automatically split in half. If divorced, Kris stands to lose half of the money he has left. However, with an annulment he could have the marriage declared void and not have to pay Kim Kardashian another cent. Kris believes he was nothing but a pawn in an elaborate plan by his ex-wife to boost the ratings of her reality show. In other words, she used him to make more money. It's a better explanation for why their "fairytale" marriage lasted 72 days than the "irreconcilable differences" line fed to the media.
Humphries joins Reggie Bush in furthering career away from Kardashian cancer
If there is one man who knows what it's like to survive the contagion that is Kim Kardashian, it's running back Reggie Bush. Ever since Humphries split with Kim, rumors persisted about her getting back together with Bush. Even after losing his job with the New Orléans Saints, Bush had no comment on the situation. Now he has resurrected himself with the Miami Dolphins. Humphries can do the same. His talent is undeniable and an NBA team will pick him up sooner or later. Until then he might finally be fighting back against the Kardashian menace by taking something from them: headlines. Annulment sounds far less severe than divorce, and that decreases ratings. Reggie Bush never got that far but perhaps he can help Kris find his way out.
