Glee season 3 continues with episode 7, "I Kissed a Girl." Santana faces coming out, while the elections come to an end. Who wins? How does it all end?
The lesson of the week
Santana's about to be suspended for hitting Finn, and even arguing another personality doesn't work. However, Finn comes to her defense and says she didn't really hit him. Once outside Figgins' office, he tells her she's awesome and by hiding part of herself, she hides part of that. He wants the Troubletones to come back because he has a lesson idea. Meanwhile, Rachel's worried about Kurt's chances in the election. Brittany's bribing voters with Pixy Stix, and Kurt needs to win to get into NYADA. However, he doesn't see that happening without cheating.
Finn's idea is to have everyone sing music created by ladies for ladies. It's about accepting yourself for who you are. Santana needs to do that, just like everyone in the room accepts her. Kurt and Blaine are first with "Perfect," and though she thanks them after, it's just for adding to all the horrible things she's been through.
Sue's dealing with her sexuality being questioned, and she turns to her book of hookups (with some notable names) to fight the rumors. Beiste has been eating more protein to keep her strength up and asks Will and Emma to help count the election ballots. She says things are going well with Cooter and calls him "the only one" for her. The next one to sing is Puck with "I'm the Only One," with Quinn awkwardly sitting in front of Shelby, who looks uncomfortable throughout. Rachel seems to pick up on some of it.
Quinn confronts Puck about singing to Shelby. He tells her he wants Shelby to see them as being the ones to take care of Beth. She explicitly invites him over to have sex, but he turns her down. Santana tells Finn he's forcing her out of the closet, but it's the ad doing that, not him. He doesn't want her to see anything happen to her. This leads into him singing an acoustic version of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." It obviously gets to her and she thanks and hugs him. Beiste picks up dinner from Breadstix and sees Sue and Cooter on a date. Cooter didn't think Beiste was interested because she didn't seem receptive to his advances. He's not just looking for a buddy.
It's time to vote for the election. Finn and Rachel try to reassure Kurt, who knows if he loses, he won't get into NYADA. The polls for district are also in the gym, meaning Beiste has to watch Sue with Cooter. She tells Will and Emma's she feels like she's living a tragic country song, and she sings "Jolene."
The rugby captain approaches Santana, up for the challenge, but the other girls come to her defense. They send him on his way and launch into "I Kissed a Girl." Rory's expression is priceless. Santana tells the others she told her parents, and they were okay with it. She still has to tell her grandmother. Figgins interrupts and calls Kurt into his office.
The Glee election comes to an end
Figgins tells Kurt and Burt that Kurt won by 190 votes. There are more ballots than seniors. Kurt insists he didn't cheat even though he thought about it. After he tells Rachel and Finn what happened—he has basically lost out on NYADA—Rachel tries to comfort him, but he walks away. She confesses to Finn that she stuffed the ballots to help Kurt, and he tells her she needs to tell Figgins or Kurt will be suspended.
Puck shocks everyone with the right answer to a math question, then leaves class after Shelby calls. Beth slipped, and the doctor says she just needs stitches. Puck insists on calling a plastic surgeon. Later, he's in Shelby's bed, and she tells him he needs to go. He calls her too much of a coward to go for him.
Santana tells her grandmother about Brittany, saying she makes her understand what people mean when they talk about love. She doesn't want to fight with herself anymore and wants to be herself. Her grandmother tells her secrets are called secrets for a reason and tells her she never wants to see her again. It would've been better if she hadn't said anything.
Puck does go to Quinn's, but he doesn't have protection. She doesn't care and thinks they'll get lucky again. She has realized that getting Beth back was a stupid idea and instead wants to make another baby. He says they've all let her down. She's a mess, and she has been since she got pregnant. He knows she can get out of the town and make something of herself. She tells him he's going to hold her then, and as he is, he tells her he has a secret to tell her.
Sue came in third, and Cooter wants to know what that means for them. So does Beiste. Sue tells Beiste she has lost a lot and isn't willing to lose Cooter too. Cooter likes both of them and doesn't know what to say. Beiste finally knows what to say: she's in love with him. She's not going to go down without a fight.
Will and Shelby tell the students they've inspired them. Kurt speaks up as the son of Ohio's newest Congressman and congratulates Brittany on winning the election. Blaine tells him not to give up hope on NYADA and they'll figure something out. Santana closes out the week with "Constant Craving." Shelby joins her as she watches Puck in the hall. Kurt can't join in on celebrating Burt's win. Blaine comforts him as he looks at his NYADA application. When the song's over, Brittany hugs Santana. Rachel joins them. She confessed to Figgins, who put it on her permanent record and suspended her for a week. Worst of all, she's banned from Sectionals.
