Glee season 3 is bringing back Sam in episode 8, "Hold On To Sixteen," and he's going to be trying to get one of his exes back. In fact, there are spoilers out about his plan to do just that. Will it work?

According to TVLine, the 10th episode, which will be the first one airing when the show returns in January, is going to feature Sam making a move to get back one of his ex-girlfriends. He's trying to get Mercedes back—they were secretly dating at the end of the season, but then he moved away over the summer—and to do that, "he joins the McKinley Synchronized Swim Team." Will it work? Mercedes does have Shane now, but with Sam back, will that change or will Sam have to move on too and perhaps find a new girlfriend? Can Sam on the swimming team compete with Mercedes' football boyfriend? Shane has been encouraging Mercedes to step out of the shadows more and does support her, but will they still be together by the end of the season or will Sam win his ex back? How will this love triangle play out? Have their been enough of those already just this season alone?
This Glee episode is also supposed to bring some new characters around as part of the Swim Team. First there's the coach, Roz Washington, then there are also some team members: Webber ("a nerdy looking girl"), Charles ("a handsome African-American boy"), and Vinny ("a nerdy looking boy"). What will these new characters mean for the show? How will the new coach get along with Beiste, Sue, Will, and Emma?
