Revenge continues with episode 9, "Suspicion," and it's time for yet another Grayson Global event. Who will come out on top in this episode?
Amanda shakes things up
Daniel invites Emily to a company event, and as Victoria watches, she kisses him. Lydia asks Ashley for her wheelchair and phone, but Victoria interrupts and takes over. Amanda, now going by Kara, joins Jack at his boat, and he offers to take her on it after lunch as Nolan watches. Emily and Ashley are watching the volleyball game until Nolan calls to let her know Amanda didn't leave. Daniel watches Emily leave.
When Victoria brings Lydia lunch, she finds out she remembers what happened the night of the benefit. The police show up with a warrant because they traced Frank's phone to their property. Emily confronts Amanda about staying, and she says she's tired of running. She needs a break, and since she's going by Kara now, no one needs to know. Amanda isn't going to just leave because Emily wants her to. Uh-oh.
Conrad is instilling some competition between Tyler and Daniel. The first one to close a high roller keeps the full commission. Victoria shows up to tell Conrad the police are building a case against Conrad since they found Frank's phone in the garden. He insists he's innocent, and if he gets framed, he's going to make sure everything she cherishes is taken away. She warns him against threatening her.
Nolan warns Jack about Amanda, saying she's not the type to stay in one place, but that doesn't seem to deter him. Emily remembers talking to Amanda about life as David's daughter and about Jack. Nolan calls to warn her that Amanda's still around, and she's planning to let her cool down before approaching her again. Nolan receives a phone call about possible credit card fraud and realizes Tyler took one.
Tyler used the card to buy Ashley an expensive dress for the party, and when Nolan calls, tells him he has some business to discuss with him. Meanwhile, Victoria visits Emily to talk about Daniel. She doesn't trust her because of maternal instinct, and Emily says everyone has something in their past they want to change. Victoria has her own flashback of David looking for his laptop and wanting Amanda to get to know her. Victoria warns Emily not to hurt Daniel, and Emily offers to work out their differences since neither want to see him hurt.
Nolan's not about to let Tyler con him, but Tyler does have a business proposal: he wants him to become his client, and it'll only cost him $20 million. Nolan passes, but Tyler's willing to be persuasive. Instead, Nolan leaves after setting up his camera, and as soon as he's gone, Tyler sits at his computer.
Victoria reads Charlotte's text to Declan and takes her phone. She then goes to give Lydia her pill, but as soon as she leaves, Lydia spits it out. Meanwhile, Amanda's hanging out at the bar, and Nolan tells her that when Emily wants someone gone, they go "in spectacular fashion." Amanda does things on her own terms, though, and warns him about the ripple effect she'll set off. To Nolan's surprise, Victoria shows up at the bar. She's looking for Declan and asks how much it will cost to get him to stop seeing Charlotte. Everyone has a price. He insists he cares about Charlotte more than her money, but she warns him that the romance will end and she wants to spare Charlotte the heartbreak.
Nolan calls Emily to update her on Tyler. He tells her about the shredded letter and insists he can handle Tyler. Emily calls "X" on her phone and says she needs to see him.
Landing a deal on Revenge
Charlotte calls Declan, who says they need to talk. Did he take the money? Conrad visits Lydia, who asks him to get her out of there. Meanwhile, Jack and Amanda are getting very close—and kissing—on the boat. Charlotte tells Victoria Declan broke up with her, and she's going to the movies with her friends. Victoria says it's for the best and gives her back her keys.
Daniel introduces Emily to Takeda, a CEO from Japan. This is the guy Emily called because she fears she's losing control. He tells her to remember she needs to be a viper when inside the viper's nest and asks how he can help. Daniel's not so sure how he did with Takeda, but Emily tells him he was impressed. Victoria joins them and apologizes to Emily, blaming her behavior on the tension with Conrad. Once Emily leaves, she tells Daniel she can tell he's happy with Emily but wants him to come home. Nolan shows up and asks to continue his negotiation with Tyler in private. Nolan has some conditions for the deal: no more lying or stealing and more quality time together. Ashley walks in on them kissing. Once Tyler runs after her, Nolan finds a certain letter.
Tyler tells Ashley he's doing whatever he needs to in order to land a client and that she needs to get in the game like everyone else. Conrad interrupts to tell him and Daniel the outcome of the evening. While Takeda likes Daniel, he's not willing to commit just yet. Nolan is, and they're just waiting to close the deal. Meanwhile on the boat, Amanda tells Jack she wants to stick around but things haven't been right for her in a long time. She then leads him to believe she's the Amanda from his childhood. Uh-oh.
Conrad tells Victoria he moved Lydia out early that evening to "someplace safe." Unsurprisingly, Charlotte and Declan played Victoria. He had asked her for 100 grand, and she had countered with 25. When Victoria dismisses Ashley for the night, Ashley asks why she hired her. Victoria tells her she's the best at what she does and adds that she's close with Emily. However, Ashley says Emily knows how to get what she wants and she can be tricky. Victoria suggests they discuss it further at brunch.
Jack shows up on Emily's doorstep and tells her Amanda's the girl from his childhood. Amanda says it's good to be home, and Emily watches as the two hold hands. Uh-oh. Emily remembers the girls parting ways after making their deal. She then took out her box and called Takeda, ready to continue her training. He told her it was time to come to Japan.
