Thanksgiving plans: Are you the cook?

What are your Thanksgiving plans? Are you the cook, or are you the lucky guest? At my house, I am the cook for a total guest list of 19. I set three separate tables, and always have room for more.

The problem is the bird is just not big enough as my family grows. I use to make a 20 pound turkey and had left overs, but as the family gets older and bigger, I have to make more sides. I buy as big a bird as I can, but there are limits. So the sides are bigger, and the desserts are fancier.

I have to make my son's favorite cake with no variations. I tried a variation of his favorite cake last year, and I thought the roof would blow off.

So what are your plans for this Thanksgiving, and who is the cook?

I am the cook. The extended family comes over tomorrow and I am into the prep work now (okay, I took a break). Thursday it should be just my sons, their girlfriends (I think) and my husband and I.....but tomorrow we will probably have about 19, not counting the kids...and we also have room, if you don't mind being crowded;)

We always have a dinner for us (hubby, kids and I) Then, go to a relatives house for Thanksgiving. This year, we're living with my father-in-law, so our plans are up in the air. I will have to talk to my mom to see what she's doing this year.

My mom's the cook! We are just gonna stay home and have turkey! My nephew will probably come over with his baby girl!

were having a super small thanksgiving this year. my oldest step son my daughter and my in-laws. I always cook the turkey since I seem to stumbled on to a idiot proof way of cooking the turkey lol and every one else helps with the other dishes (plus washing dishes or they are on their own for food. I also do the sweet potatos/yams since I'm picky about how yams has to taste lol

My aunt has hosted Thanksgiving for the past 7 or 8 years. Our family does it pot-luck style and everyone brings a dish or 2. I've been responsible for the same dish(watergate salad) for like 15 years, but this year I've also been asked to bring sweet potatoes. There are about 15 people there and I'm sort of thrilled I've been entrusted with bringing one of the main side dishes. I'm moving up in the family cooking order!

I am the cook for 14 people. We get the biggest turkey we can get, and I make several sides and several desserts. Usually, 3 or 4 people will take food home with them afterwards, and we have enough to feed our crew of five for a couple days afterward. I finish Thanksgiving day off exhausted, but it's something my kids really look forward to each year.

I am the cook. :) Years ago when I have had a large group (or my mother in law there - she dislikes turkey) I would make a ham too. I found it to be a big hit.
