Ricki Lake takes on the samba with Derek Hough for the first of three dances this week on DWTS. And this dance is extremely important because this Monday is performance night for the season 13 semi-finals.
That means that if the talk show host does a good job as far as the judges are concerned and if she wins enough votes from the avid viewers, this keen personality will move on to the finals next week and a real good chance of snagging that coveted mirror ball trophy.
But was her samba worthy of hitting the top of the TV talent show leaderboard?
Perhaps.
Len was certainly crazy about what Ricki did in the ABC ballroom. The British judge, not always very upbeat, kept repeating how "fabulous" Lake was with Derek Hough as the couple channeled their Latin dancing ability. Wearing matching yellow (OK, screaming yellow) costumes, this popular couple took the samba to a whole new level.
In fact, that level was so superior that Bruno said the pair were "sizzling hot" throughout the sassy number. He said that Ricki and Derek "dazzled."
That said from Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba was happy that Ricki Lake had worked on one of her weaknesses: The struggle to keep her shoulders down. Inaba said this made a great deal of difference in her performance and gave Lake the chance to really reach new technical levels.
Could Carrie Ann feel Ricki Lake is ready to go pro? Probably not. But this serious contender could go all the way on DWTS. What do you think? Are you pulling for Lake and Hough to take the win for season 13? Thoughts? Thanks.
