By night she enjoys writing novels, quilting, playing the piano, renovating old houses and traveling. Sherrie and her husband live in Northern Iowa.

Sherri owns a bed and breakfast and teahouse and stays very busy. In her "spare time" she writes books, plays the piano at her husband's church and goes on adventures with her  nieces.

can't make it - friday night is papa john's pizza night and FRINGE!!!!!!! Can't disappoint my young adult children, can I? Nope.

almost as good as Pizza Hut lol..yes, it's quite good. We always get one large thin crust (me!) and one large regular crust - both extra cheese and half double pepperoni. I always order the free special seasoning packets and the crushed red pepper packets. The pizzas always come with free banana peppers in the box....tasty! And - we always get the buffalo chicken strips with extra buffalo sauce for dipping - and two orders of the garlic/parm cheese breadsticks. They come dripping with butter and garlic and cheese and are soooooooo good. Then - we have the joys of leftovers for Saturday lunch....and I freeze any pizza left after that and eat it for lunch during the week. Plus, we belong to Papa's points - they double the points on weekends - usually one point per five bucks spent. Once you have twenty five points you get a free pizza. We got one of ours free this week. So....we got all that - with special deals for the breadsticks and chicken - for only 28.89 which includes the 1.99 delivery fee and tax (6 percent). That's one way to feed a family of four two days worth of meals for under four bucks a meal. Not counting my lunches during the week. I could write the book on food specials lol.
By the way, are you pimping last week's column along with this week's in the WassssHappening column?

I am not really sure where you are located in Iowa. Is it in the eastern, western, northern, southern part of Iowa?

Is it just off the interstate?

It is 20 miles south of I-90 and 20 miles east of I-35. We are in the far north part of Iowa, 2 hours south of Minneapolis, MN and 2 1/2 hours north of Des Moines.

I've just finished working on an inspirational novel, Love Notes, and have had interest shown by some Christian publishers, so we will see what happens with that project, hopefully soon.

I put in some very long days, and do much of my writing late at night or very early in the morning. When the B&B is slow, like it is in November, I have more time to write.

I am working on another book that is almost done, Blue Belle of Scotland, and a newer one that is about 1/3 done called Wild Rose of Scotland.

Is the setting on these two books in Scotland?

What kind of research did you have to do for the two books?

Are they romance novels, historical fiction or what?

Yes, those two are set in Scotland. I did research online, and visited Scotland personally about 3 years ago. I love it there! They are romance novels, with more of a suspense element than my previous novels.

Thanks, Connie. It has been a stressful few months and we are still in limbo / between churches (my husband is a pastor), so I expect things will continue to be a little wild until we make it through this time of transition and settle in again.

I read that on your blog too.

Ministers seem to switch churches often in this area. People get mad and churches split and so forth. As the end of time draws nearer, it is only going to get worse.

I am intrigged at your B&B. We always wanted to have one and even took a few grant writing classes to get the money but the insurance to have one with horses and hiking was just out of our range.

How much land do you have with your B&B?

Do you use stories that you hear at the B&B in your books?

My B&B is in a small town, and I have about 2/3 or 3/4 of a city block. We are surrounded by farm land and the Cedar River greenbelt.

The Blue Belle is mentioned in Stormy Weather. On Rae's honeymoon night (Rae is married, but in name only), she wishes, as they drive home, that they were heading off to a romantic night at the B&B instead of home to separate bedrooms.

When Tracy finds out Trevor is gay, she had 3 kids - ages 14, 10, and 5. They play very predominant roles in the book. I hope I did their emotions justice.

I read a story with a similar situation only the guy was not married when we realized he had same sex attraction. It really opened my eyes to a world that I was unaware of. It really dealt well with the emotions and how society treated this young man.

I am trying to sell a completed novel, Love Notes, and working on two more, Blue Belle of Scotland and Wild Rose of Scotland, that are partially completed. My next one is going to be set at The Pink Palace on St. Pete's Beach, Florida. I can't wait to get going on that one!
