Please help me! I need a good, reliable, easy-to-use, inexpensive, brand new, digital camera.
But I have no idea what to get or where to get it.
I want to take pictures of my baby-to-be and also landscapes, old farmhouses, etc.
My price range would probably be $300-$400 if I can get a good camera that shows good detail, etc. And I don't want to buy anything off the Internet... or that would have to be shipped to me, if I could help it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

They said mine wouldn't work in low light, but I just keep it perfectly still in low light and I make that work most the time. Sometimes pushing it up against a door frame will do that. (I HATE the look of flash)
Serious value
Canon Poershot Elph 300 HS for $250. small camera - great for throwing in your purse
and
Sony Cyber Shot HX100V - wow, wish I'd seen this page earlier
This $450 superzoom gives you the equivalent of a whopping 27-810 mm, image stabilization - that's really important:) and a tilting LCD screen.
Our test found imaging performance near the DSLR level.
So there you go:)
Megapixel isn't a huge thing. Anything over a 5 is fine, unless you want poster size prints. The bigger the number, the less you'll get use out of it. Most people don't even print 90% of the photos they take digitally, and those that do, typically don't go above a size 8x10, so looking for the biggest, baddest number in this category is useless. Most camera's have at least a 10, but I've seen some with as high as 20mp, and unless you are taking professional photos, you just don't need it.
For zoom, look at camera's with high OPTICAL zoom, and ignore digital zoom- you won't use it, because digital zoom is CRAP. You want a camera with 5+ for optical zoom- this is where the lens does the work, not the computer chip inside the camera.
Lastly, look for a camera with video capability, because with a newborn, there are all sorts of moments you'll want on video- first laugh, clapping, rolling over... so many great moments!
