Plenty of people have been buzzing about the perceived "weak" ratings for the US version of The X Factor, but Fox believes in the show. The network announced Wednesday that they are renewing the show for a second season, just as the show begins its live shows and viewer eliminations. The show has been delivering solid ratings thus far, but many have still been critical of its performance, trying to compare it to American Idol's current ratings after more than a dozen seasons.
Mike Darnell, the head of Alternative Entertainment for Fox, said, "Picking it up is a complete no-brainer. Simon and his team have done an incredible job with the show." In addition to having decent ratings, The X Factor has been successful in creating lucrative business partnerships. The show's deal with Pepsi is rumored to be worth $50 million, and the eventual winner of this season will star in a Pepsi commercial. Twitter and Verizon are also on board with partnerships for fan voting this season.
What do you think of The X Factor this season? Are you excited to hear it will be back for a second season? Who are you rooting for this season?
