Taylor Lautner--aka Jacob Black of Twilight fame will soon be starring in an Indie film by renowned director Gus Van Sant. The film will be based on an article in The New Yorker. Lautner will be one of the film's producers as well.
According to a report from Just Jared, a rumor about Gus Van Sant collaborating on some sort of film project with the Twilight star has been circulating for a while now. Finally fans learn the gist of what the hype has been about.
It will be incredibly interesting to see Lautner as an Indie star. By the time the film is made, the Twilight and Breaking Dawn hype may have calmed down for a bit and Taylor Lautner can perhaps be seen in a new light--one that highlights his diversity as an actor. His acting skills are stellar and his options for roles shouldn't be limited to his Twilight history.
This is certainly exciting news for Taylor Lautner fans, who have recently enjoyed seeing their favorite actor in the recent film Abduction. They will no doubt be thrilled to learn he's Indie-bound.

That doesn't seem likely, since the Twilight stars realize it's their fans who have made them who they are today. Without them, they might just be a fledgling actor--constantly looking for that one big break-out role.
