I've been making my own "Hamburger Helper" type meals for many years with the key ingredients being a box of macaroni and cheese and a pound of hamburger! This meal starts with the same key ingredients, but I added in some canned vegies. It's a great frugal meal, healthy, and easy to clean up!
1 reg box macaroni and cheese
1 lb. ground beef (can be whatever you like, I use 90-93% for less fat, but can use any
including ground turkey or vegan)
1 can Whole Kernel Corn (No salt added)
1 can diced tomatoes
1 packet spagetti sauce (any brand)
Brown ground beef in large pot, drain. Add can of diced tomatoes without the juice, 1 can of whole kernel corn, and the macaroni from the box of mac & cheese(set cheese pkt to the side). Pour tomatoe juice (from tomatoes) in a small bowl and mix in the spaghetti sauce packet with a fork till blended. Add juice mixture to pan with approximately 3 cups of water. (make sure water covers all ingredients) Stir all ingredients, then bring to a boil. Cover and simmer till most of liquid is dissolved. Serve by itself or with bread and/or a salad. Grrreat!
