Halloween this year was a hoot! Although we didn't do as much as we did in years previous I have to say this time it was quite pleasant. Previous we would always go with my friend and/or my sister to my friend's mom's house and trick or treat in her neighborhood. It was always special to get the kids together and let them have their fun while the grown ups chatted. This year my sister had to work, my best friend was out of town, and we no longer live in the same city as they do. With Halloween on a Monday night it didn't make much sense to drive all the way down there. So instead we stayed close to home and attended our first Trick or Trunk at the state fair grounds. It was actually very nice and as they advertised very safe. Ethan got plenty of candy and we had dinner afterwards.
This year Ethan did something really different with his costume. He designed it himself and then I put it together. He made a cross between a Pokemon and a Power Ranger and called it a PokeRanger. He drew it up on a notebook paper and then brought it into me and said "Mom you can sew this" as I was ready to throw my little Pixie sewing machine out the window just trying to sew together a drop in lining for a purse I had crocheted. I looked at it and told him "I think you have way more faith in my abilities than I do." He was still insistent and I told him to lay the picture down on the table and I would figure something out. That was in August.
For the next two months I keep hearing "When are we going to work on the costume?" I told him when it gets time to. Finally two weeks ago I crocheted the helmet, found the top and bottoms at Wal-mart, the felt at Jo-Ann's, and last Sunday a Poke Ranger was born. I thought it actually came out pretty good!
