Commonwealth Changes Royal Succession Laws

I think it's about time!!!! As a Canadian, a citizen of a country still in the commonwealth, I'm going to send Her Majesty a Thank You note for making this important change. The next thing i'm going to do is write to Her Majesty, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, and ask when the same thing is going to happen there. It would also be awesome if William and Kate's first child was a little girl. Of course after Queen Elizabeth II there will be two Kings, but it will be nice to have a future Queen born, in honour of this great new change in the royal line.

Commonwealth changes royal succession laws

PERTH, Australia (UPI) -- Leaders of Commonwealth countries decided Friday to change royal succession laws, giving daughters of future British monarchs an equal right to the throne.

Previously, a first-born son of a monarch is the natural heir to the throne, unless there are no sons born, in which case the crown is passed to the oldest daughter, the BBC reported.

I'm not one that wants to see the Monarchy disappear but I think this change is long overdue.

Did you know that Switzerland (a perfectly deceloped European country) allowed its women to vote for the first time in the 1990s?

Can you remember whether they also already changed that in Japan? I know they have a girl and where thinking about changing the laws, but I am not sure whether they really did it.

I think it's time to get with the times with modern rules. Why did it take till now? It should have been done for charles and diana imho.

It has been a slow , arduous process--moving women out of the kitchen on to the Throne or into the Board Room!
