Coldplay Covers 'We Found Love' on BBC Tour (Audio)

After debuting an album track featuring Rihanna last week, Coldplay recently covered her "We Found Love" for an unsuspecting British audience. The performance was for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge yesterday on the station's national student tour before the band's concert in Norwich that night. The song received a simple piano arrangement and only audio exists. The low-key arrangement allows listeners to better take in the song's lyrics. Chris Martin continues to gush over Rihanna, even slating their duet, "Princess of China," as the third single from Mylo Xyloto.

Coldplay is a band not known for their duets and says Rihanna will be their only one. "We have no other plans for collaborations," Martin said at a press conference in Madrid. "Rihanna was the only name on the list. It's the only duet we've done and the only one we wanted to do." "Princess of China," the Coldplay and Rihanna duet, was written for Rihanna two years ago. "We Found Love" is Rihanna's current single, so it's a very interesting choice for a cover, as it shows Martin's radio savvy. Why would Coldplay decide to cover Rihanna's hit single though if Martin believes she sings so much better than he does? Of "Princess of China," Martin said, "It's the best singing on any Coldplay album. Ever." Was the "We Found Love" cover a one-off or a launching pad for the new single?
