Not horror, but definitely haunting. This is the second time I've read this story in one of your posts, and it is every bit as powerful this time.

I guess it's close to 'horror' in that you have a dead child, real or imagined, tries to talk an adult into dying.

In an essay on one of my books, I wrote: "I don't need to write horror. I write of the human experience, and that's scary enough."

Yesterday's Refractions, as I say, is a rewrite of a much longer, and much earlier work.

That's from my "Speaking of Life" Series, earthy, sometimes sweet, sometimes raw parabolic tales about life. The story teller, Kacie Kameron, grew up way different from me, so she has a much different outlook on life.
