It comes with the territory. Most of the classic writers fell into the same category as did most famous artists. Hemingway is a classic example. He didn't even like himself and then he had to take that person he didn't like everywhere he went. We know how that ended.

Fortunately, I'm of the opinion that what other people think about me is really none of my business.

I was thinking what you just said. It's my torment, my hobgoblins that make me the writer that I am. Also, the asshole.

When I get out of my skin, I think I'd hang with me.

Worded wrong. Those things may put the genius in your writing, but in no way do they make you an asshole. Asshole's probably can't write - I'd hang with you. Obviously you've never heard the song, Asshole. It's not you at all. Besides, who are you to call my friend an asshole? :)
