A baby girl found in bag abandoned near Chicago was on the trunk of a car in a church parking lot. A church member happened to inspect the bag contents before discarding it—thankfully—and this is when he discovered the infant inside.
"We found a reddish color bath towel totally wrapped around the baby," said Bob Song. "So I unwrapped the baby towel, and it was a very healthy-looking baby."
Members of the church called fire and police and the baby was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center. The baby girl found in bag seems to be approximately two days old and seems to have been delivered at home. She is in good health.
If authorities are able to find the mom, neglect charges are possible. However, at this time, authorities are more focused "to determine if mom is healthy, physically and mentally, and make sure she was not coerced into anything. Then, based on the totality of the case, she would be charged or not," reports Akron News Now.
If the mom was not coerced, maybe she thought she was abiding by the Safe Haven Law. However, this law does not cover churches. Until the mom of the baby girl found in bag is found, all anyone can do is speculate and be glad that this baby girl is safe and healthy.
