Project Accessory, the spin-off of the ever-popular fashion designer's dream for reality TV (also known as Project Runway), will premiere on Lifetime October 27th. Here are the three best reasons to catch fashion's newest show (and they may have something to do with a hottie for a host, a designer's obsession with all things feathers, and a killer panel of judgesl):
1. More supermodels. Heidi Klum may have run the show on Project Runway (and left her mark with more straight-faced auf wiedersehen's than viewers can count), but now is the start of a new era - well, at least in terms of drop-dead-gorgeous reality fashion TV hosts. Molly Sims will be hosting the show, where her fashion prowess - and sexy, go-on-for-days legs - will be on display at all times. The model and Las Vegas actress is the perfect face for the Runway spin-off - she launched her own jewelry line, Grayce by Molly Sims, just last year, so it's clear she's no stranger to the world of accessories.
2. Fashion elite. Lifetime has snagged some impressive faces to star alongside Sims. Kenneth Cole (designer extraordinaire) and Ariel Foxman (InStyle magazine editor) will perform as guest judges, while lifestyle expert Eva Lorenzetti (voted by VOGUE as one the "ten most stylish women in fashion") will mentor the amateur designers. No big deal. Guest judges throughout the season will also include Kelly Osbourne and Debra Messing.
3. Outside-the-box style and unexpected talent. When was the last time reality TV junkies have seen a show centered around a funky belt or a piece of unique, show-stopping jewelry? Happy viewers will get their fix with Project Accessory. The show will feature designs and challenges for pieces such as headbands, bags, shoes, and jewelry from 12 designers. Check out the list of designer hopefuls here.
Two designers starring in the upcoming season of the show were interviewed by the Chicago Sun-Times on Wednesday. The hopeful duo, James Sommerfeldt, 29, and Diego Rocha, 37, detailed their areas of expertise (Rocha loves making bags out of exotic animal skins, and Sommerfeldt prides himself on his footwear being "wearable works of art" and adorned with ostrich feathers) and dished about the upcoming season: "We have to design everything. That's what's going to make this show so brilliant. You just have to deliver, you have no option, and that is where the drama starts," says Rocha.
Let the drama begin! Tune into the Lifetime premiere on Thursday, October 27th. Project Accessory will air directly after the season finale episode of Project Runway at 10:30/9:30C.
Will you check out Project Accessory? Do you think it will be as successful as Project Runway?
