Well, it seems as if I am writing another post very similar to others I have written. I am sitting here in the hospital and I am not working.
Ed, my husband, had a Right Total Knee Replacement today. The surgery went very well, according to the orthopedist. They had to be extra careful with anesthesia due to his extensive cardiac history. But everything went very well.
The fun starts tomorrow! Physical Therapy will be in tomorrow to get him up with a walker to start walking. He is adament that he is not going to stay in the hospital any longer than he has to. He surprised me by wanting to sit up at the edge of the bed. And he did!! He stayed up for about 15 minutes with his knee bent.
The doctor says the average hospital stay for his total knees is 3-4 days. Ed is pushing for Sunday. We will see!
I just wanted to let you know why I haven't been around Gather the last couple of weeks and why I won't be around much the next couple of weeks. I have taken off almost 3 weeks to help with his rehab. And he will have in-home physical therapy for 5-6 weeks.
Please keep us in your thoughts and hope for a speedy recovery for Ed.
