Homeless Dexter Haygood Depends on 'The X Factor' USA Mentor Nicole Scherzinger

Tension mounts as homeless crooner Dexter Haygood waits to find out if this earnest man makes it with 15 other keen contestants to the live shows on The X Factor USA. This monumental moment depends on what Nicole Scherzinger decides, and the judge for the USA version of the hit UK show is of two minds about this particular contestant who has come forth to take part in the Fox talent show.

On the one hand, Dexter Haygood is not the typical act and is, therefore, not the typical choice. And Scherzinger knows this, but her heart goes out to this talent who has nothing but a car and a jacket to his name. Oh, and yes, he has a great voice.

So, while telling all of her X Factor over 30 contestants who will go and who will stay and continue on to the live show, Nicole is so conflicted about Dexter Haygood that she tells him so. But in the end, Scherzinger decides to gamble on this character. At that, a lot of tears take over these two personalities as this great moment comes to pass. At that point, the judge and mentor tells Haygood good luck and asks that he make her proud.

No doubt Dexter will do just that. But after hearing of his good fortune on this episode of The X Factor that aired on Tuesday, Haygood throws away all the stress of the day and literally dives into Nicole's Malibu pool, clothes and all. Yes, this is one happy crooner, a guy who may just creep into so many other hearts that there's a chance he could win this competition. Stranger things have happened, especially on reality TV.
