Early this week a missile strike conducted by an US drone fired a hellfire missile that killed a high-ranking member of the Haqqani network according to reports from Pakistan. the missile strike occurred in the Northwestern Frontier Province of Pakistan which is known as a safe haven for insurgence such as Taliban and al-Qaeda. the coordinator known as Jalil and others were reportedly walking down the street when the strike occurred. It is reported that Jalil was related to the leader of the Haqqani network, Sirajuddin Haqqani.
Drone missile strikes have become more successful over the past month due to better cooperation between the United States and Pakistani Intelligence services known as ISI. How long with this cooperation last? For the sake of peace and stability in Afghanistan it should help. The recent successes of taking out al-Qaeda and AQAP-Yemen senior leadership has kept the terrorist organizations off-balance and not capable of conducting attacks outside their regions.
