Did Dr. Kimberly Lindsey, an official with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, really do what she is accused of? The 44-year-old Deputy Director with the Laboratory Science Policy and Practice Program Office faces one count of bestiality and two counts of child molestation charges in Georgia. What's even worse? Those charges involve a 6-year-old boy. Her boyfriend, Thomas Westerman, a night watchman at the CDC, was arrested also.
Reportedly, there is evidence that Dr. Kimberly Lindsey and her boyfriend made the 6-year-old engage in sexual acts. "During the investigation, evidence was recovered that led to the bestiality charge," said a DeKalb police spokeswoman.
If this crime is true, it once again shows that a professional person, even one that holds a significant position with a United States federal agency, is capable of a crime that is utterly disgusting. And it gets worse. It was not a one time thing. In fact, the alleged acts occurred from June of 2004 to August of 2011.
According to CNN, Dr. Kimberly Lindsey, who earned her PhD from Emory University, has received at least 12 awards for outstanding performance. Now she's in jail and will most likely lose her job and her reputation.
At the CDC website there is Dr. Kimberly Lindsey, smiling in a turquoise suit. She held a big job. "The primary role of this position is oversight of the $1.5 billion fiscal allocation process for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response funding agency wide," as stated on the site.
What happened? How could a woman of this distinction fall so low?
Some women do things because they are influenced by their boyfriends. We don't know what happened here, but Dr. Kimberly Lindsey is not some uneducated woman without a mind of her own.
If the allegations are ture, whether she was the ringleader, whether both Lindsey and Westerman are equally responsible or whether Westerman did most of the acts and Lindsey was just there - Dr. Kimberly Lindsey's life has changed forever.
What a waste.
