Tim Allen will prove that he is still manly in his new ABC comedy, Last Man Standing, which premieres Tuesday, October 11 at 8pm. Things are a bit different this time around than in his last comedy, Home Improvement, that ended back in 1999. He has hung up his tools and replaced them with outdoor stuff. He has also traded in three sons for three daughters. One of his daughters is an unwed mom to a little boy. Yes, he is also a grandpa this time around.
Tim plays the role of Mike Baxter who heads up marketing for an outdoor store and is married to Vanessa, played by actress Nancy Travis. It will be interesting to see if these two have any chemistry on screen. It will certainly take some getting used to not having Patricia Richardson opposite Tim on screen.
Will there be any grunting on the show like Tim Taylor did? Apparently not, but his character will be looking for some testosterone outside the house. He won't be finding any at home with the females living with him. Maybe there will be some male bonding with his grandson, Boyd.
Josh Elliot interviewed Tim Allen Monday morning on Good Morning America, and Tim said that he is lucky to have a slot on network TV instead of on cable TV. So far they have eight episodes taped. Tim also said that he is grateful and humbled that anyone cares. Little does he know that there are many people that will be happy that he is back on the TV screen.
At the end of the GMA interview and being the sports guy that Josh Elliot is, he just had to ask Tim how he feels about the Detroit Lions' winning season so far. Tim grew up near Detroit and has been a Lions fan for 40 years. It was evident that he was thrilled with their winning season so far. Tim may just have a winning season himself with Last Man Standing.
Are you looking forward to seeing Tim Allen in this new role? What was your favorite memory as his role of Tim Taylor?
