Kim Kardashian is mad, and she is a woman on a mission. The reality television star went on a rampage on her blog about cyber-bullies and bullying in general. Why did Kim pick a Friday night to address cyber-bullying, seemingly out of the blue?
Kim Kardashian had set up a contest where she was trying to give away a "fairy tale" wedding. Her "My Fairy Tale Wedding" was set to announce the winners, but before she did, she decided to discuss a growing trend that she found when she announced the finalists for the competition. Kim posted in her blog:
Unfortunately, some people have decided to ruin this contest for the finalists, and have been bullying and threatening the finalists on Facebook... I will NOT tolerate bullying of any form on my blog or on my Facebook. Anyone who threatens another fan, or thinks that it is ok to bully someone else, will be blocked and banned immediately.
Good for Kim. She took a stand and actually is trying to put a stop to people who harass others, at least on her own Facebook page. Unfortunately there are not enough Kim Kardashians.
Rude and hateful comments have become standard fare on message boards, Facebook, Twitter, and comment strings all over the Internet. Many people seem to have too much time on their hands and just spew ugly posts, perhaps thinking they are funny, or perhaps trying to be disruptive.
Making it worse is the ability to post comments anonymously, hiding behind an avatar or a generic screen name. Even if someone is not a fan of Kim Kardashian, her standing up for people who entered her contest and not turning a blind eye to the stupidity that happened in the comment section of her Facebook page should be applauded.
