The wait so agonizing
Dreadfully analyzing
Days of pondering
If our time has come
The children play
Bright smiles of joy
Unknowing of the turmoil
And where it comes from
I want more time
to watch my kids grow
To love more passionately
And watch the seasons change
It doesn't seem fair
An asteroid from no where
Disrupting our lives
It just feels so strange
My friends they scurry
Trying to prepare
but I just gather my memories
And watch my children play
What will be, will be
And come what may
I will treasure each moment
And live for each extra day

Writing Challenge: In six months, an asteroid might or might not collide into part of the Earth. There's a fifty/fifty chance that NASA and others might be able to deflect the asteroid and push it away from its forward collision. If this occurs, there's still a chance that at least one quarter of Earth will be in total devastation due to the proximity of the asteroid. There's no way of knowing until the last minute if this deflection can be achieved. And if so, what area of Earth will be affected.
What will you do with your life - fiction/non-fiction/poetry/essay/whatever- during those six months of waiting?
As usual, all stories should be 1-3 chapters, with up to a maximum of 1500 words per chapter. Poems can be up to 35 lines.
Please put GCC in the title and tag if you wish the chance to be judge for next month or NGCC if you decline the opportunity to judge.
