New Girl has become quite the hit for Fox, and the series, which will be airing a full season, continues with "Wedding." What happens when Nick brings Jess with him to a wedding?
Planning for the wedding
Jess' only job is to be Nick's girlfriend and keep him out of trouble with Caroline. He doesn't listen to Schmidt and Winston, who's excited about the wedding since he's an usher. The guys tell Jess not to be herself at all, meaning she can't wear the teeth.
At the wedding, Schmidt sees Brooke, whom he's determined to hook up with. Winston meets Jimmy, the alternate usher, and they get a bit of a competition going on. Meanwhile, Schmidt sees Gretchen, whom he can't stand but ends up having sex with at every wedding. When she walks over, he tells her they can't do it anymore, as it's not healthy. When Nick sees Caroline, Jess plays the girlfriend for him, and he's happy because she seemed to be jealous.
Old habits on New Girl?
At the reception, Gretchen doesn't look like she's going to give up, but Schmidt focuses on Brooke, who remembers him after a moment. When she says she's six months sober, he says he's seven months sober. She tells him he can talk to her if he needs to.
Jess continues to be all over Nick when Caroline looks over. When Jess leaves them to talk, she accidentally walks right in front of the bride and groom entering the reception and, of course, gets pretty loud in the awkward situation.
Gretchen and Schmidt trade insults, and he escapes to Jess, telling her he needs to leave with Brooke. He doesn't want any more mean-spirited sex with Gretchen. Winston joins them to point out Nick and Caroline talking—it's not good. When Jess tries to lure him away, he's too excited about possibly having a chance with Caroline, attributing it all to Jess.
Schmidt approaches Brooke, and when Jess calls him over for help, he tells Brooke she was a mistake when he hit rock bottom. Brooke suggests getting him out of there. Meanwhile, Nick and Caroline are having fun in the photo booth. Brooke runs into Jess cutting her underwear off in the bathroom because they were too tight. Waving around the knife, she jokingly tells her not to hurt Schmidt or she'll hunt her down. Jess leaves a terrified Brooke behind and finds Nick and Caroline. Caroline insists nothing happened, saying she has a boyfriend before walking away. Schmidt comes over, saying Brooke left because she threatened her with a knife.
The guys call Jess a ruiner, and she takes her teeth back. She says she's going to be who she is and doesn't care if they don't like it: Jess is back. Nick gets drunk and leaves a terrible message on the wedding tape.
Winston checks in with Jess and tells her the guys are glad she's around but won't say it. Jess joins Nick in the photo booth and tells him he has to let Caroline go. He finds Caroline to say goodbye before bringing Jess out on the dance floor for the chicken dance—to a slow song. Schmidt and Winston join them.
