Literature Question

Hello,

I am taking a class about Children's Literature.  We have to do a literary analysis on a children's or adolescent book.  We have to psychoanalyze a book.  I am having a hard time finding a book that I can psychoanalyze.  It has to be enough information to fit into a five page paper.  Does anybody know a good book that could be used?

What about the giving tree? You could psychoanalyze the tree or do the boy. I think the tree would be interesting to go into.

How about one of the Harry Potter books, or perhaps one of the Narnia books they are really great.

I was thinking about one of the Narnia books because I know there is supposed to be a lo of hidden meaning in those. Thanks for your suggestions!

Chapter boo, or something for younger kids? I'm not sure on exactly what age range you're going for, but here are some that come to mind:
The Giver by Lois Lowry
BFG by Roald Dahl
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

As for books for younger kids, I can only think of picture books... of course there's stuff by Dr. Seuss, and some of that has other messages, like The Lorax is environmentally-themed. iother favorites of mine from when I was a kid were Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses.

I am looking for a chapter book, but one that is not too long, because I have to read it and write the paper within the next two weeks. I have heard The Giver is really good. I haven't heard of the others. Thanks for your help. I will look your suggestions up.

James Patterson writes a series for adolescents.

James Patterson’s Maximum Ride series is directed towards a young adult audience, and is quite different than the majority of his other books. These books center on the character of Max who is a strong-willed 14 year old girl who is an avian-human hybrid-i.e. a bird-kid. She, along with 5 others, can fly. This series not only deals with the standard issues of being a teenager that is common in young adult literature, but also with not knowing your parents, bio-ethics, global warming, and conspiracy theories

Are you talking really little children or chapter book level? I think any of the Lemony Snicket books would be good phsycoanalyze, there is some messed up stuff in those books. Or Caroline also kind of Bizarre.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Lemony Snicket, those were messed up! I think chapter level books would be best... like grades 5 to 8 or so.

My fave has always been Wind In The Willows. I used it as an intro for
Journey of the Snow Goose.
