The Gold and Crimson box

My friends know I’m a lover of nature’s creatures and tend to protect them.  But, we are poor, as are all my friends.  Imagine my surprise when I received a gold and crimson colored parcel in the mail.  It was my birthday and I was so excited.  I shook the box and something rattled inside.  So, I shook it again and again.  (The moral to this story is to check for air holes before shaking the box).

Finally, I opened it, immediately dropped it and opted to run away.  Tarantulas can be very aggressive then they’re ticked off.

Only if you're dealing with a really angry tarantula. Otherwise, they're really cool. I actually let one climb up my leg one time. But, then, I'd had a Bud and felt daring. It tickled and was soft and fuzzy.

Oh my......I shake in my shoes ( stilettos, mind you ) just thinking about tarantulas, let alone receiving them in a parcel.......and for your birthday, Pam?? Who have you offended I wonder, not that I even think for a second YOU could or would offend anyone....LOL.

Maybe someone who knows your love for tarantulas LOVES you!!!!!!

I don't think I would like a box full of angry tarantula! I would have made sure the box was closed tightly before I ran away because you never know where he could be hiding when you get back!

I couldn't close the box. Tarantulas jump quite high for their size when they're mad. They're smart and they can run pretty darn quick at you.

Yeah, shaking the box could upset the tarantula, but they're usually pretty neat creatures. When I was growing up we had a big field to the east of us and we could always find a tarantula there. We'd bring it home for a few days and then take it back and release it. It feels strange having one climb up your arm or wander around on your head, but it's kinda cool.

Ahhh - my beer buddy. I wasn't brave enough to let it climb up my leg until I'd had a few beers. How about that - we both admire tarantulas.

To be honest, when I was a kid I never let a tarantula crawl up my leg. I always wore loose shorts -- very loose shorts and there were certain areas I didn't want the tarantula to visit. I kept them on my arms, shoulders, neck, and head.
